3. Select 'Logs' from the main top menu, then select 'Usage Statistics' from the Sub-menu on the page. This takes you to a summary page for your website.

4. Two key measures for you to look at are Visits and Hits.

- Visits are unique visitors (people) to your site for the period.

- Hits are how many times a page(s) has been loaded in that period. So as an example, if Fred Bloggs visits your home page that would be one visit and one hit (actually 2 as it takes a hit to load the graphic header). Now imagine if Fred visited 5 pages on your site, that would be a further 5 (actually 10 if there were graphics) hits on the counter. As you can see, the 'Hits' number is therefore not really that useful and so I suggest to all our customers that they use the 'Visits' as their benchmark to how many visitors they are getting.

5. Click the month to go to a much lower level of detail such as how your visitors found your site i.e.: Google.com, MSN.co.uk etc etc. The two key items here are 'Total referrers' and Total Search Strings' as that tells you were your visitors came from and what search term they were using.
